I’m
not part of the crowd...
Fragile and over-sensitive - this is how Nirma describes herself. “So handle me
with care,” she chuckles.
Nirma statrted her career with TV plays. Her first play was Ranjish that won
wide acclaim by the viewers. Soon after she got offers for films. Bazigar was
her debut, after that she worked in Urdu and Punjabi films.
She has been out of scene for almost one year. But, certainly, not without
reasons.
Why are you not signing films any more?
I was fed up with run-of-the-mill stories. I don’t like monotony. I am always in
search of innovation. Pakistani cinema is just churning out movies in which
quality is missing. So I thought I should take a break. I am waiting for good
scripts. I have very good Bollywood projects lined up and I am working on them
nowadays.
Have you signed any Bollywood flick?
I went to India a couple of months ago to inaugurate an exhibition ‘Bride and
Groom’ arranged by ITE group. I inaugurated the exhibition with an Indian Chief
Minister. I felt myself honoured to represent my country. It was there that I
got my offers with Indian ace directors like Subhash Ghai and Ram Gopal Varma. I
have their projects in the pipeline. I am reading the scripts of the movies.
Here I would like to mention one thing I learn from the experiences of my
seniors. In the past, a couple of Lollywood actresses like Zeba Bakhtiar and
Salma Agha and recently Meera worked in the Bollywood films.
So far as I am concerned, I will work in quality movies.
That’s why I am reading the scripts. Most probably by this January I will
finalise these films. One thing is clear that I will not work in any
controversial movie or picturise controversial scenes.
What
kind of a person you are?
I am aggressive and I am moody. I always want to do something different. I don’t
want to be the part of a crowd. I am an extremist.
What is your Zodiac sign?
Pisces. 24th February.
What is your idea of soul mate?
He should be tall, handsome, sincere and good at heart. In fact I believe in
ideal relationship.
Are you an idealist?
No. I am a very realistic person.
What trait you deplore most in others?
I can’t stand lies.
What life has been to you?
I would answer you in one word i.e, excellent. I got more than I expected.
Are you a cynic or a happy-go-person?
Of course I am a happy-go-person. If you ask my friends about my best quality,
they
would
say Nirma giggles a lot.
What trait you appreciate in yourself?
Truthfulness.
What is your idea of a perfect happiness?
I am a very romantic person. A winter evening, drizzle and a cup of coffee in my
hand fills me with happy thoughts.
